Alex Sanders is married to Zoe Dutrow Sanders. They are the parents of one child, Zoe Sanders Nettles. She and her husband, Bill Nettles, are both lawyers and they are the parents of twin boys, William, Jr., and Alex, born December 18, 2003.

Bill
graduated from The Citadel in Charleston, SC and Widener School
of Law in Pennsylvania. Bill was a member of the Law Review, Moot
Court Honor Society and president of the Student Bar Association.
After graduating from law school Bill served his community as a
public defender in Columbia, SC for over three years. As a public
defender Bill specialized in litigating complex criminal cases involving
DNA, eyewitness identification and false confessions. Bill has successfully
defended cases involving each of these complex issues. After leaving
the Public Defender's Office in 1995 Bill went into private practice.
Bill still enjoys a vibrant criminal practice ranging from driving
under the influence to white collar defense. Bill and Alex Sanders have developed a very successful and broad civil practice. This
civil practice includes personal injury, medical malpractice, pharmaceutical
litigation and the ability to implement creative solutions for complex
legal problems.
Bill currently serves as section chair for the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association. He serves on the board of the Richland County Bar. He is former president of the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and has served on the faculty of the National Criminal Defense College where he teaches trial advocacy. Bill has published numerous articles and is a frequent speaker on a host of legal issues. Bill was a recent presenter at the ABA Criminal Law Subdivision Superior Cross and Direct. Bill is married to Zoe Sanders Nettles, past president of the National Association of Women Lawyers and partner at the law firm of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP. They have twin boys.
